Some services may have additional terms or booking conditions. Where additional terms apply, we'll provide them at or before booking.

3. Participation and safety

Our services involve physical activity, martial arts training, self-defence drills, striking, partner work, fitness training and contact drills — all of which carry inherent risk.

By participating, you acknowledge that:

  • Physical training involves risk

  • Injuries may occur even when reasonable care is taken

  • You're responsible for training within your own limits

  • You must follow instructor directions

  • You must train safely and respectfully

  • You must tell us about any injuries, medical conditions, physical limitations or support needs before participating, and update us if anything changes

  • You should seek medical advice if you're unsure whether an activity is suitable for you

We may refuse or limit participation if we believe it's unsafe or inappropriate for you, other participants, our instructors or the wider training group.

4. Health information and medical clearance

You're responsible for giving us accurate and up-to-date health, injury and medical information where it may affect your ability to train safely.

We may ask you to complete a waiver, health screening form or pre-exercise questionnaire before participating. In some cases, we may require written medical clearance before training begins.

If you choose not to provide requested health information, we may be unable to provide services to you or may restrict your participation.

Our services are not a substitute for medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, counselling, therapy or rehabilitation.

5. Waivers and consent forms

Before participating, you may be required to complete a waiver, consent form or health screening form. For children and teens, a parent or guardian must complete the required forms and provide consent before participation.

All information you give us in forms must be accurate, complete and up to date.

6. Children and teenagers

For children and teenagers in our programs:

  • A parent or guardian must provide consent

  • A parent or guardian must provide accurate emergency contact and health information

  • Parents and guardians must inform us of any medical, behavioural, emotional, learning, disability, neurodiversity or other support needs that may affect participation

  • Participants must follow instructor directions and behave safely and respectfully

  • Parents and guardians are responsible for timely drop-off and pick-up unless otherwise agreed

  • We may contact a parent, guardian, emergency contact or emergency services if we have safety or wellbeing concerns

We reserve the right to pause, modify or end a child or teenager's participation if we believe it's necessary for safety, wellbeing, behaviour management or the smooth running of the class.

7. Behaviour standards

Raw Life Australia is a safe, respectful and supportive training environment.

Participants must not engage in:

  • Bullying, harassment, intimidation or discrimination

  • Aggressive or threatening behaviour

  • Unsafe training

  • Deliberate misuse of techniques

  • Inappropriate language or conduct

  • Filming or photographing other people without permission

  • Behaviour that disrupts the class or puts others at risk

We reserve the right to refuse entry, remove a participant, cancel a booking, suspend a membership or end participation if behaviour is unsafe, disrespectful or inconsistent with the values of the training environment.

No refund will be provided where removal is due to serious misconduct, subject to any rights you have under Australian Consumer Law.

8. Bookings

Bookings may be required for classes, personal sessions, workshops, seminars, online courses or other services.

A booking isn't confirmed until any required payment, form, waiver or confirmation step has been completed. Spaces are limited and offered on a first-confirmed basis.

We may refuse or cancel a booking where:

  • The service is full

  • Payment hasn't been received

  • Required forms haven't been completed

  • Participation may be unsafe or inappropriate

  • The booking was made in error

  • The participant has previously breached these terms

9. Fees and payments

Fees must be paid as agreed at the time of booking, registration or sign-up. We accept payment by bank transfer, card, online payment, direct debit (via Worldpay) or any other method we make available.

You're responsible for making sure payment details are accurate and funds are available when payment is due.

Failed payments: Our direct debit processor (Worldpay) charges a $4.40 dishonour fee if a direct debit or scheduled payment is declined. This fee is added to your next scheduled payment. We may also suspend participation, access or bookings until outstanding fees are paid.

Additional charges: We may add additional one-off charges to your Worldpay account (for example, equipment or extra personal training sessions) with your consent. These are subject to the same dishonour fee policy if they fail.

Prices may change from time to time. We'll give reasonable notice of changes to ongoing membership or regular service fees.

10. Memberships and ongoing payments

Some services are offered as ongoing memberships, class packages, term programs or recurring payment arrangements. Specific inclusions, fees, billing cycles and conditions will be explained at sign-up.

Adult memberships are billed fortnightly in advance by direct debit (some legacy members remain on monthly billing).

Kids and teen programs are billed by term, with the option for teens to pay over five fortnightly instalments instead of a single upfront payment.

Suspension (freezing) your membership: You can suspend your membership for genuine reasons (illness, injury, work travel, family commitments). Minimum suspension period is 2 weeks, and at least 2 weeks' notice in writing is required before the suspension start date.

Cancelling your membership: There are no membership or cancellation fees. To cancel, we ask for one month's written notice before your next billing cycle. You can keep training during the notice period.

Memberships and class packages are for the named participant only and can't be transferred to another person without our written approval.

11. Missed classes and public holidays

For regular group classes, term programs and memberships, missed classes are generally not refunded. Where possible, we may offer a make-up class, credit or alternative at our discretion, depending on availability and circumstances.

We close on all official Victorian public holidays and over the Christmas/New Year period (approximately two weeks). Members are notified in advance of shutdown dates.

When a public holiday falls on a Tuesday, we'll often also close on the Monday. When it falls on a Monday, we'll often also close on the Saturday before. These adjacent-day closures aren't a fixed rule — we may stay open on those days depending on our schedule. Members will be notified in advance either way.

Public holidays and the Christmas break are already built into the fortnightly, monthly and term fee structures. No refunds or credits apply for public holiday closures.

We aren't required to provide refunds or credits for missed classes due to change of mind, scheduling conflicts, holidays, work commitments or failure to attend, except where required by law.

12. Personal training and private sessions

For personal training, one-on-one coaching or private sessions, we require at least 48 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours' notice, and no-shows, will be charged the full session fee.

If we need to cancel or reschedule a session, we'll offer a reasonable alternative time or credit.

13. Workshops, seminars and events

Workshop, seminar and event bookings may have specific booking conditions, which will be stated at or before booking.

Refunds and transfers:

  • Workshop and seminar bookings are non-refundable

  • If you can't attend a workshop you've booked, you can transfer your spot to any other Raw Life Australia workshop held within the same calendar year, subject to availability

  • Bookings may also be transferred to another suitable person with our approval

  • No-shows are not refundable

If we cancel an event, we'll offer a refund, credit or alternative date. If an event is postponed, we'll offer a transfer to the new date or another reasonable option.

Nothing in this section limits your rights under Australian Consumer Law.

14. Online courses and digital products

Where we provide online courses, videos, handouts, digital resources or other online learning materials:

  • Access is for the person who purchased or was granted access

  • Login details must not be shared

  • Materials must not be copied, uploaded, sold, distributed, taught, republished or used commercially without written permission

  • Course access periods, if any, will be stated at purchase

  • Online learning is educational and doesn't replace in-person coaching, medical advice or professional assessment

  • You're responsible for training safely if you choose to practise any material

Refunds for online courses or digital products are handled in line with the stated terms at purchase and any rights you have under Australian Consumer Law.

15. Instructor training and use of brand names

BareBones Combatives, Raw Combatives and our related instructor training materials, frameworks, logos, names and teaching methods are owned or controlled by Raw Life Australia Pty Ltd or the relevant rights holder.

Completing a course, seminar or instructor training program does not automatically give you permission to teach under, advertise under, certify others in, or commercially use the Raw Life Australia, Raw Combatives, BareBones Combatives or related names, logos, materials or frameworks. Any instructor pathway, apprentice status, certification, licence or brand-use permission must be confirmed in writing and may be subject to separate terms.

16. Refunds and Australian Consumer Law

Our goods and services come with rights and guarantees under Australian Consumer Law that can't be excluded, restricted or modified. Nothing in these terms limits or removes any rights you have under Australian Consumer Law.

You may be entitled to a refund, replacement service, credit, cancellation or other remedy if a service fails to meet a consumer guarantee.

We aren't required to provide a refund if you simply change your mind, can't attend, choose not to participate, find the activity challenging, or fail to provide required notice, unless required by law or agreed by us.

Where a refund is approved, it will be processed using the original payment method where practical.

17. Changes to services, timetables and instructors

We may make reasonable changes to class timetables, instructors, locations, formats, content, pricing, booking processes or service availability. We'll try to give reasonable notice of significant changes where practical.

Changes may be necessary due to instructor availability, illness, safety concerns, emergencies, venue issues, low numbers, travel, public holidays or circumstances beyond our control.

18. Photos, videos and testimonials

We may take photos or videos during classes, workshops, seminars or events, and we may receive reviews or testimonials from clients, parents, guardians or participants.

Use of photos, videos and testimonials is handled in line with our Privacy Policy and any consent provided by you (or, for children and teens, by a parent or guardian).

Participants must not film, photograph or record other people during training without permission from the instructor and the people involved.

19. Privacy

We collect, use, store and disclose personal information in line with our Privacy Policy, available at rawlifeaustralia.com.au/privacy-policy.

20. Intellectual property

All training content, frameworks, names, logos, course materials, videos, manuals, handouts, graphics, written resources, teaching methods and digital content created or provided by us remain our intellectual property unless otherwise stated.

You must not copy, reproduce, distribute, sell, publish, teach, adapt, upload or commercially use our intellectual property without written permission. Participation in our services doesn't transfer ownership of any intellectual property to you.

21. Use of techniques outside training

Our training is provided for lawful self-protection, fitness, personal development, confidence, resilience and education.

You're responsible for how you use any skills, concepts or techniques outside the training environment. We do not encourage violence, aggression, unlawful behaviour, intimidation or misuse of training.

22. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Raw Life Australia Pty Ltd isn't liable for loss, injury, damage, expense or claim arising from:

  • Your failure to follow instructions

  • Your failure to disclose relevant health or safety information

  • Unsafe or inappropriate behaviour

  • Misuse of training

  • Participation outside your ability or medical capacity

  • Events beyond our reasonable control

Nothing in these terms limits, excludes or modifies any rights or remedies that can't be excluded under Australian Consumer Law or other applicable laws.

23. Events outside our control

We aren't responsible for delays, cancellations, interruptions or changes caused by events outside our reasonable control. This may include illness, injury, emergencies, extreme weather, venue closures, power outages, government restrictions, public health issues, travel disruption, technology failures or other circumstances beyond our control.

Where possible, we'll offer a reasonable alternative, credit, reschedule or other suitable option.
