Geordie Armstrong

From Growing Up Around Martial Arts to Becoming a Coach at Raw Life Australia

Born into the martial arts world, Geordie grew up around training, coaching, and the day-to-day reality of helping people through movement and self-protection.

Watching his dad, Jim Armstrong, build Raw Combatives and Raw Life Australia gave him an early understanding that good coaching is about much more than techniques. It is about helping people feel better, move better, and become more capable in themselves.

Geordie officially started training at 10, with kickboxing, Eskrima, and the principles behind Raw Combatives forming a big part of his early years. Being around the training environment from such a young age gave him a strong foundation, not just in skill development, but in how to communicate, connect with people, and make training enjoyable and useful.

By 15, Geordie knew this was the path he wanted to follow. Under Jim’s guidance, he began helping in classes and learning what it really meant to coach. By 16, he was already stepping into that role more seriously, building experience with kids, teens, and adults, and developing his own calm, supportive way of teaching.

Over time, Geordie has taken on more responsibility across Raw Life Australia, becoming an important part of the coaching team. He has worked across kickboxing fitness, youth classes, and general coaching, helping people of different ages, abilities, and confidence levels settle into training and improve at their own pace. He also completed his Certificate III and IV in Fitness, adding formal qualifications to the practical experience he has built over the years.

As a coach, Geordie brings a steady, welcoming energy to the room. He is good at helping people feel comfortable enough to begin, then capable enough to keep going. His sessions are built around solid basics, real movement, and creating an environment where people can work hard, enjoy themselves, and make real progress without feeling judged or out of place.

Geordie is especially good with people who are just starting out, low in confidence, or trying to find their way back into training. He has a good way of making people feel at ease without lowering the standard. They still work, they still improve, but they do it in an environment that feels supportive rather than intimidating.

Now coaching out of Raw Life Australia in Rowville, Geordie continues to build his own path while helping others build theirs. His training is about more than fitness alone. It is about helping people feel stronger, more capable, and more comfortable in themselves.
